Amsterdam
In 2015 KPN participated in Pride Amsterdam for the first time. Since then they have sailed 4 more times:
2015: Pridestream ; a boat without people, but with 360-degree cameras and a livestream to the entire world to allow everyone to celebrate Pride in a safe way. This allowed 70,000 people from 78 countries to ‘sail along’ in Pride Amsterdam: some even showed themselves to the masses. An original idea – developed together with N=5 and MediaMonks – in which the core business was also central. With more than 1 million euros in earned media (via 162 articles and 81 million impressions) they also received an honorable mention at the Effies. A video shows a case study of this campaign.
2016: KPN Gaylist , a collaboration with Spotify and old acquaintance Ben Liebrand. People could rcs data share a favorite gay song on social media, and win a spot on the boat. There were almost 1,000 reactions on Facebook alone, and KPN answered them all properly.
2017: Feel free , proud of who you are
2019: Timeless Love Connection . In the run-up to Pride Amsterdam, KPN produced a understanding customer service on documentary film in which connectedness was central. Two generations, young and old, who have a candid conversation about themes such as freedom, love, acceptance and connectedness. In the lead roles: Barrie Stevens (75) and Jeangu Macrooy (25). The gentlemen have an age difference of exactly 50 years, the number that was symbolic that year during Pride Amsterdam because of the commemoration of the Stonewall riots in 1969. The campaign was widely used on social media.
2022: Loud & Proud (Nothing Can Mute Pride) brought a boat with 3 DJs from countries where being LGBT carries severe penalties – there are still 79 of them, by the way. These three DJs were – in collaboration with DJ Mag – explicitly put on stage to draw attention to this. At the time, I was working for KPN book your list and was selected – there was a lot of interest in sailing along, also among ‘allies’ – for a place on board.Is your marketing agency still the right partner?
